Vinton Garden Club members plan events at March meeting

The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II and Central Region met at 10:00 am at Culver's Greenhouse in Marion, IA.  Our speakers were Rachel and Jennifer, they gave us a tour of the greenhouse and talked about the “new varieties for 2015”.  We shopped in the gift shop then had our club meeting in the board room in the executive building.

Emma Redlinger benefit continues in Newhall Sunday

Emma Redlinger's cousin, Kelsey Williams, and friend Kamryn Robinson, sell T-shirts Saturday. Jimberly's in Newhall was full of friends, classmates and relatives of Emma Redlinger, who gathered to remember the Vinton girl who died Feb. 28, at age 14. The benefit for her family includes a raffle, pancake breakfast Sunday morning, and a live auction.  See the event Facebook page, with more photos of the donated items,HERE.

Jimberly's Newhall plans two-day benefit in memory of Emma Redlinger

A weekend benefit is planned this weekend at Jimberly's in Newhall for the family of Emma Redlinger. An Indianapolis Colts jersey signed by former NFL player (and Iowa Hawkeye) Bob Sanders and an autographed Danica Patrick jacket are among dozens of items donated for the two-day benefit in memory of Emma Redlinger that begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jimberly's Newhall.  Many items and gift certificates from area businesses will be offered via silent auction.

Vinton Feeds the World

Easter Egg Hunt set for March 30, at Garrison library

The Garrison Library Board is organizing  an Easter Egg Hunt and Bake Sale on Monday, March 30th @ 6:00 pm. It will be held rain or shine at the new library.

Shellsburg Area Community Group Plans Annual Golf Outing for June 13th

Make plans now to join in the fun at Wildcat Golf Course on Saturday, June 13th!! The Shellsburg Area Community Group (SACG) was formed in 2011 as a community improvement group and has been successful in providing volunteers and funding for a variety of projects in Shellsburg. The group will be hosting their 4th annual golf outing on Saturday, June 13th at Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg, with a 9:00am shotgun start.

Central Lutheran School to hold annual Kindergarten and Preschool Roundup

Central Lutheran School in Newhall is hosting their annual Kindergarten and Preschool Roundup in April. Kindergarten Roundup will be held in the morning on Wednesday, April 15th. Each child is encouraged to bring their favorite “stuffed animal” to accompany them during roundup. Arrival time is 8:15am and pickup is at 12:00pm. Skills assessments, hearing screenings, vision screenings begin while parents meet with the teacher and principal at 8:30.

The Master Gardener Extravaganza will take place Sat., April 18, from 8:00 am- 3:30 pm at the Vinton Skate and Activity Center in Vinton. Pre-register by April 1st for $30, after April 1, $35.
